The resort of Pomorie is rather one of the quieter places. It is an ancient city, the origins of which date back to the 4th century BC. Pomorie resembles nearby Nessebar in its appearance. Its old part is also located on a peninsula, although not as narrow as in the case of Nessebar. Unfortunately, in 1906, the city was destroyed by a large fire, so the old town was not preserved. The town is located about 18 km from Nessebar and 20 from Burgas. The town is also famous for its healing mud baths, located on a beautiful rocky peninsula near Lake Pomorie. The baths have healing powers and help against diseases of the musculoskeletal system, nervous system and eczema. This small town became rich on the export of salt and aromatic dry wine "Pomoriiski Dimjat". Rare bird species can also be seen here, such as woodcocks and little cormorants, which often visit the long strip of salt water. The main, four-kilometer-long strip of Pomorie beach stretches from the fishing port, separating the famous salt pans from the open sea. As a rarity, you will see black sand on one of the beaches. The real center of this seaside town is a lively pedestrian zone that runs through a green park. Here you will find a number of restaurants, shops, discos, a bank, a post office and a polyclinic. The advantage of this town is its convenient connection to the nearby Sunny Beach and historic Nessebar. In Pomorie, you can sunbathe on three nice beaches. The first beach lies north of the old center and is very long and fine sandy. What is unusual is that its more remote part essentially forms a kind of border between the Black Sea and Lake Pomorie, which lies right behind it. From this beach, it is only a short walk to the ancient center of the resort. If you like privacy, go further north along the beach, away from the local hotels. The further you go, the fewer people you will see on the beach. The second beach is smaller and is located south of the resort. It is quieter, further from the center, with rocks in places. But you will find peace and privacy here. The third beach is a rarity, you will find black sand and healing mud here. Both umbrellas and sun loungers are available on the beaches for a fee and there is also a varied offer of water sports.

Not far from Pomorie, about 5 km west, there is the St. George Monastery with manicured gardens, as well as the Pomeranian tombs and mausoleum. Salt is mined in the Pomeranian Lake, about 30,000 tons per year. The Salt Museum is of tourist interest. During the summer season, dozens of concerts, theater performances, and festivals are held in Pomorie. Exhibitions are organized, so culture lovers will definitely not be disappointed. There are two well-preserved churches in the town from the 18th and 19th centuries. In the very center of the town is the monastery of St. George from the 17th century with a famous bas-relief. 2 km from the town is the Pomorska lagoon and lake (Anhialo Lake), near which a spa sanatorium using mud baths was built. This treatment method has been known here since ancient times, and was widely used by the Byzantines. 6 km from Pomorie is the picturesque village of Sarafovo with beautiful beaches. The Atanassovsko Lake nature reserve is very interesting, which forms a large lagoon south of Sarafovo. Not far from the town, near the Europa campsite, are accessible Thracian graves and 3rd - 4th century. You should not miss Nessebar. There is a regular bus line to Burgas and private boat carriers. Grapevines thrive excellently on the sunny slopes around the town. The local wine production is among the highest quality and most recognized in Bulgaria. Well-known and not yet widely sold varieties such as Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Dimjat, Pamid, Grand Noire, Alkanboushe and others are grown here. The local rakia is also rightly considered one of the best in Bulgaria.
