Polychrono is a bustling coastal town where the ancient city of Naples once stood. Excavated remains include an acropolis on a hill and an early Christian church with marble columns. A small Folklore Museum displays textiles, tools and historical documents. A mill located among forests and pine trees reveals how olive oil was pressed in the past. Boats and jet skis can be rented and there are bars and seafood restaurants along the coast.
Polichrono is 95 km away from Thessaloniki on the eastern part of the Kassandra peninsula on the site of the ancient city of Neapolis. The village was named after the colourful impression of the many flowers that characterised the landscape (abstract linguistic meaning: 'many colours'). About 1050 people live permanently in this village.
Tourism is the main source of income for the village in summer. Many cafes, restaurants, bars, shops, hotels and apartments are located on the well-visited beach promenade
Between the sea and the whole promenade there is a 7 km long and very clean sandy beach, which is awarded the blue flag every year. Due to the eastern position the area guarantees amazing sunrises.
In the off-season, the inhabitants are mainly engaged in agriculture, olive processing and honey production.
The centre of the village is decorated with the church of Saint Athanasius (built in 1912), the patron saint of Polychron. A little further on in the square is the older church of the "Nativity of Christ" from 1863.
