The town of Nessebar is one of the most visited Bulgarian resorts on the Black Sea coast. It lies 38 km from Burgas and 100 km south of Varna on the rocky peninsula of the same name, which loosely follows the sandy Sunny Beach to the south.

The town was declared an architectural and archaeological reserve in 1056. It has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1983. This picturesque place is characterised by its Black Sea-style development of two-storey wooden houses crowding together in winding streets. The Archaeological Museum, with its extensive collection of icons and ancient pottery, and the Monastery of St. George are also worth a visit. There are well-preserved walls near the harbour, and the town has cobblestones dating back to the Middle Ages as well as ancient Greece and Rome. The cobbled, well-kept streets, ancient churches and 19th century timbered houses give this town an unprecedented charm. You will also find small shops, a market, taverns and a harbour. There are several beaches. In the southern part of the town is the most interesting beach, the South Beach. The beach is sandy, with a gradual entrance to the sea and offers a wide range of sports activities (football, volleyball, jet skiing, etc.). Along the sandy beach on the mainland, 2 km from the old centre, there is a new district.
