In the Middle Ages there was an impregnable Bulgarian fortress Kozyak, protecting a port of great economic importance for the Bulgarian Black Sea trade in the 13th and 14th centuries. The ruins of the medieval fortress are about 3 km from today's Obzor. You will also find the ruins of the Temple of Jupiter on the remains of the Roman walls.
