Obec Tankovo is located in southeastern Bulgaria, part of the municipality of Nessebar, in the Burgas region, 4 km northwest of the resort of Sunny Beach, 8 km northwest of the historic town of Nessebar and 28 km from Burgas.
The climate is temperate continental, influenced to a large extent by the Black Sea, as well as air currents from the Mediterranean Sea. The relief is mostly flat and the height varies between 0 and 49 m. Winters are mild and dry and summers are hot, but the mountain air and sea breeze refresh the dry and hot days and make the nights pleasant and cool.
