Albania is building a new airport

This Riviera is gaining popularity!

The holiday location, which has gained popularity thanks to its cheap offers and beautiful beaches, will become much more accessible for tourists. A new airport is being built here.

Albania's Vlora is part of the Albanian Riviera, where tens of thousands of tourists are heading this year. The only two cities accessible by international flights are Tirana and Kukës in the north, making central and southern Albania relatively inaccessible unless you travel by bus or car. Vlora airport will allow tourists to fly directly to the Albanian coast and to resorts on the Adriatic Sea, which can boost development and tourism revenues. It is expected that Vlora Airport will receive direct flights from all over the world, which could create thousands of new jobs, reduce ticket prices and make the airport the most important tourist gateway to the region. Vlora International Airport is due to open in April 2024 - making holidays much more enjoyable.

The €100 million airport will have a two-kilometre runway and handle up to two million passengers a year. There has been some opposition to its construction due to its proximity to the protected Narta Lagoon, which is home to thousands of species such as flamingos.

Local residents, however, hope it will help boost tourism in the area.

The Albanian Riviera's popularity has soared this summer thanks to its exotic beaches and low prices.

Hotel prices here start at 20-22 euros and a beer costs 1.30 euros. Water in restaurants costs around €0.70, a main meal can be had for €7-8 and a cappuccino costs around €1.40. A kilo of tomatoes can be bought for 1.10 euros.
