Burgas is the largest city in southeastern Bulgaria and the second largest on the Bulgarian Black Sea coast, and with an area of 253,644 km² it is also one of the largest in the country. According to the latest NSI census as of 31 December 2015, it has 203,017 inhabitants, making it the fourth largest city in the country. In 2012, two shopping centres were opened in Burgas. The opening of a multifunctional sports hall and a coastal asphalt road connecting Burgas with the new district of Kyosheto and the Sarafovo district is planned.
